GATUPLAN is coming back to Pipeline! The latest album “Welcome to the Underworld” (Sound Pollution/Wild Kingdom) offers up to a wild blend of refractory classic Swedish punk, ska, power pop and garage rock with straight and direct texts. The plate was praised by Per-Sinding Larsen, Fredrik Strage and GATUPLAN, has toured among other things as units to DANKO JONES, OSLO ESS and PERKELE and at festivals in Sweden and Norway. “The struggle goes on!” (2021) as the Canadian artist DANKO JONES chose to that year’s flat all categories in the music magazine Exclaim!, and as the Sweet Guide described it as “generating a vital sign for modern Swedish punk.”
Behind the GATUPLAN stands Inge Johansson who previously played bass in a variety of bands with international audiences (including The (International) NOISE CONSPIRACY, American AGAINST ME! and Brazilian CANSEI DE SER SEXY) but who has now stepped out as a solo artist – with a strong companion! GATUPLAN’s music may be described as a mixture of the swing from RANCID, the attitude of the EBBA GRÖN, the pop melodies from RAMONES spiced with ska rhythms borrowed from THE SPECIALS – without being a nostalgia trip, GATUPLAN takes off here and now. But one thing is certain – GATUPLAN goes its own way through the Swedish music landscape, without bothering anxious trends and categorizations. With songs like “Punk Heart,” “My Revolution,” “Umeå Hardcore,” “Sympathy for the Devil,” or “Come Over,” the lyrics sprout from everything from personal, political, love, relationships, and the struggle for something better. And in a short time, GATUPLAN has established itself as a high-energy live band and with a proximity to the audience that leaves no one untouched. That passion is rare. Lovorden hailed over Tomas Rimeika, both live and for his recordings. His songs have been hailed in SVT and P3.HYMN gave his latest studio album “The Clearing April” 8/10 in grades: “Dreaming indie pop, that should be how life feels.” Crowdsnapper wrote "contagious energy...and charm" about the live experience. Since its inception in 2021, Tomas has had more than 200 gigs in Germany, Denmark and Sweden, and has been nominated as the “Author of the Year” at Manifestgalan. In the autumn of 2025, he received a gold ticket in IDOL on TV4 and in September 2026 the new album "The City of Eternal Youth". After that, we welcome Tomas with bands back to Pipeline!
